A Journey through comics and creative rebellion

In a world where the pages of comic books often serve as a gateway to imagination, my childhood followed a different script. Devoid of the colorful tales that adorned the lives of my peers, I discovered a world of enchantment through the likes of Astrix and Obelix, and the captivating escapades of Tintin. These glimpses into the realm of comics left an indelible mark on my impressionable mind, but they were merely a fragment of my vast literary palette.

My formative years unfolded against the backdrop of Russian children’s books and the remarkable masterpieces of American and German visionaries such as Shel Silverstein and E. O. Plauen, known to the world as Erich Ohser. These works of art became my trusted companions as I embarked on a journey that would shape my destiny.

In the throes of adolescence, I nurtured a fervent aspiration to become a cartoonist and satirist—a dream that beckoned me with irresistible allure. It was a longing rooted deep within, an innate desire to wield a pen as a weapon of humor and social commentary. Little did I know that this path would not only be one of artistic expression, but also a platform for defying societal norms.

As the tapestry of my life unfurled, the brushstrokes of destiny led me to the realm of graphic design. By day, I lent my creative talents to magazines and advertising agencies, crafting visual masterpieces that adorned the public eye. Yet, it was during my free time, when the constraints of conformity loosened their grip, that I truly blossomed as a painter and an art student.

But life, as it often does, took an unexpected turn. Trouble loomed on the horizon, fueled by my unyielding viewpoints and unwavering commitment to free thinking in an Islamic society. The oppressive forces of conformity sought to stifle my voice, banishing me from various aspects of society. In the midst of this turmoil, I found solace in the realm of graffiti—an art form that allowed me to break through the chains of oppression and spark a movement of artistic rebellion. However, as fate would have it, this triumph was short-lived, culminating in exile from my homeland in my early thirties.

Seeking refuge in a foreign land, Germany, I hoped for a fresh start—a sanctuary where my creativity could flourish without the shackles of fear. Yet, as I acclimated to my new surroundings, I discovered that Germany was not entirely different from the country I left behind. The pressures of society, though nuanced, weighed heavily on my shoulders, placing value not on individual talents but on mere pieces of paper and titles.

As an individual who eschewed the pursuit of titles, one who sought recognition beyond the confines of mainstream society, I found myself entangled in a web of adversity. The fangs of systemic oppression sank deep into my spirit, threatening to extinguish the fire within. Yet… I refused to be silenced.

These trials and tribulations birthed within me a wealth of untold stories—tales of otherness, defiance, alternative ways of life, and the pursuit of free thought in the face of hegemonic pressure. They compelled me to abandon the brush and canvas of my art world career and instead embrace the power of storytelling. It is through these narratives that I unravel the tapestry of the other, shining a light on the beauty of deviance and the resilience of the human spirit.

Join me, dear reader, on this extraordinary expedition into the depths of the unconventional. Together, we shall traverse uncharted territories, shedding light on the stories that defy societal expectations and challenge the status quo.

For it is through the cracks in our existence that the light of individuality shines brightest, paving the way for a world that cherishes the untamed spirit of the human experience.
